Our approach

How we coach: four values in every class

At CrossFit Zeeburg, training is about more than moving. Four core values, set together with the team, shape how we coach and how we treat each other. For each value you can read what it means, and what we ask of you as a member.

A quiet corner of the training floor in daylight: a concrete wall, black rubber flooring, a steel rig with wooden rings, a barbell with bumper plates, kettlebells and a wooden box.
Core values

Four values you see in every class

A value only means something when you see it in behaviour. That is why each value also lists what we ask of you. We build it together.

01

Real attention

We coach people, not numbers.

We are personal, open and genuinely involved. Everyone is seen, everyone belongs.

Your level doesn't matter: we coach who you are, not just how you move.

What we ask of you

  • You greet people, make contact and help create a good atmosphere.
  • You are open with coaches and ask for help when something feels unsafe.
  • You are open to feedback and learn with a coachable attitude.
A box with great atmosphere and very professional trainers. Best of the best with a great quality of trainings and multiple available hours to choose for doing your WOD throughout the day.

02

Growing together

You get stronger by making others better.

We do this together. We help each other, encourage each other and improve each other, without egos and without competing with others.

Our community is a place where everyone can feel at home.

What we ask of you

  • You encourage others, wait for each other and celebrate each other's effort.
  • You leave your ego at the door. Your PR (personal record) is never more important than respect.
  • You help new members find their way in the community.
This is the friendliest CrossFit box in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed working out there.

03

Healthy growth

Strong for life, not just for the WOD (the workout of the day).

We train smart, with attention and with respect for the body. We build health that lasts: physical, mental and emotional.

Fit for life, staying healthy and strong for as long as possible, and lasting habits are at the centre.

What we ask of you

  • You choose movement over ego and technique over weight.
  • You are honest about injuries, limits and stress.
  • You work on habits that fit your life, inside and outside the gym.
04

Joy in movement

Training may be hard, but it should feel good.

Joy is not shallow fun. It is the satisfaction you feel when you notice that you are growing.

We want you to enjoy coming, because training gives meaning to your day and to your life.

What we ask of you

  • You put in the effort and appreciate the effort of others.
  • You help keep the atmosphere positive and motivating.
  • You celebrate your own progress, however small.
CrossFit Zeeburg is a good place to train. The workouts are challenging but the trainers keep it fun. The group is very friendly.

In short

The CrossFit Zeeburg philosophy

We don't train for the gym. We train for life.

Questions

Questions about our approach

Is CrossFit Zeeburg competitive?

No. We train together, not against each other. You leave your ego at the door: your personal record is never more important than respect. You compare yourself with how you trained last week, not with the person next to you.

How hard are the workouts?

Training may be hard, but it should feel good. We train smart, with attention and with respect for the body, and every exercise is scaled to your level. Technique comes before weight.

What if I have an injury, slept badly or feel stressed?

Be honest with your coach about it, we ask that of everyone. Then we adjust the training. A coach does not diagnose: for an injury or complaint, a physiotherapist or doctor is the right person.

What will I notice of this approach in my first class?

That you are seen: everyone belongs, whatever your level. People who greet and encourage you. And a workout that fits your level.

Ready to start?

Pick a starting point that fits your week. We're happy to help you choose.
