Viking Run distance: 13 km

How did you get started with CrossFit?
I got started almost 4 years ago when a coworker invited me to a free class and after that I was hooked. I enjoy the atmosphere, the personal training and the great health benefits.

Where does your motivation come from?
One of the things that attracted me the most to CrossFit was the one hour classes, which is also what motivates me to go because I know that in one hour I will be done. At the same time, I really love the energy of everyone there and how contagious it is regardless of my mood that day. Usually when I am not in the mood I remind myself about all these things and it keeps me going.

Nutrition is an important but often overlooked aspect of training – What is your approach to nutrition?
I generally eat mindfully by trying to always incorporate a good mix of carbs, protein and fats. I don’t really eat junk food and when I do I try to only do it during the weekends and once in a while.

The Viking Run is described as “the most intense obstacle runs”, what part of the Run will be the most difficult for you?
I originally thought it would be the running but after watching a couple of videos I think that the obstacles that require upper body strength will be the most difficult.  The combination of mud, sweat and exhaustion will be a great part of that but I also think my short stature won’t help me a lot either 🙂

How do you prepare specifically for the Iron Viking Run?
I try to go at least 3 times a week to CrossFit and the days in between I go running. I am hoping that this will be enough.

What is your favorite & least favorite exercise?
Favorite exercise: push press. This especially fun when I had a tough day and the pushing part helps to get rid of my frustration.
Least favorite: Assault Bike. It feels like it never ends

Last question: What is your go-to junk meal?
Like pretty much everybody else my go to junk food are chips. I personally never buy them but since I live with flat mates and they always buy them, I just can’t resist them.
