What is CrossFit Kids?

The CrossFit Kids program is a fun and interactive way for kids to not only become more fit, but also learn how to move more efficiently. They will learn how to move better in everyday life, whether they catch a football, pick up a bag or while performing other sports.

Classes will also focus on building confidence, working together and learning about a healthy lifestyle. CrossFit will set a solid foundation for them to grow up strong and associate fitness with fun.

Your Trainer: Nicky

Nutrition Coach & CrossFit Kids Trainer

As a nutrition coach Nicky loves working with people, but the ones below 1,5 meter are her favourite kind of people. She started doing CrossFit 6 years ago and never had the ambition to teach herself. Until she saw CrossFit Kids for the first time!

She takes the experience of teaching at a primary school with her, where she teaches children about a healthy lifestyle including sport- and nutrition classes. She can’t wait to meet your little ones and start introducing them to the fun world of CrossFit.

What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence.

Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children.

Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids.

CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socioeconomic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives.

Rules of Engagement (read carefully!)

Below are some rules that we must enforce as a CrossFit Community to best protect your child; please:

  1. Walk your children inside the building for the start of the class, and come inside the building to pick them up.
  2. Bring your children to the designated Kid area, where the CrossFit Kids coach will meet them and take them onto the gym floor for the day’s class.
  3. Unless pre-arranged with the CrossFit Kids coach, the children are only allowed to go home with the person who drops them off.
  4. Please sign your child in and out with the CrossFit Kids coach so we can ensure they are going home with the appropriate person.
  5. Ensure your child has a bottle of water, or a bottle that can be filled up at the drinking fountain. Don’t forget to put your child’s name on it!
  6. Ensure your children are wearing clothes appropriate for running, jumping, rolling, pulling, swinging, climbing, crawling, throwing, and being upside down.
  7. If you choose to stay and watch the class (which is mandatory for the youngest group), please do not coach your child.
  8. Children with disciplinary problems: first warning-free of consequence, second warning-sit out the first two minutes of the game, third warning-go to the parent.
  9. Finally, please make the head coach aware of any special needs for your children that may facilitate their individual safety, learning, and growth (i.e., medications, illness, physical/mental limitations, injury, sports, etc.).
